빛에 의해 텍스트가 산화된 책에는 여백이 흐른다. 종이 질료의 바스락거림에 부드러운 시간의 공감각을 느끼는 작가는 긴장하고 조바심을 내면서도 사물 두께의 미묘한 반동으로 생존의 기회를 모색한다. 이는 물질을 다루는 것이 아니라 순응하고 조화하는 것이다. 작가는 종이의 여백을 나누고 다시 포개어 붙이기를 수백수천 번을 거듭하고서야 긴 호흡을 내쉰다. 이어 붙인 종이의 켜 사이로 시간이 탄생하고, 사라질 뻔한 사물의 질긴 생명성을 발견할 수 있다. 그리고 보이지 않는 빛을 발견하고 공감하고 싶다고 작가는 말한다.
Margins flow in books where text is oxidized by light. Sensing the gentle passage of time in the rustling of paper, the artist, despite tension and impatience, seeks opportunities for survival through subtle reactions to the thickness of objects. This is not about handling the materials, but rather, it is about yielding and harmonizing. The artist divides and reassembles the margins of the paper hundreds or thousands of times, finally exhaling with a long breath. The resilient vitality of objects at its brink of destruction are discovered as time finds itself between the seams of reattached paper. The artist expresses a desire to discover and empathize with the unseen light.
